MEET OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Renee Basham – Executive Director
Renee became a doula in 2016 and has since attended over 25 births. She founded Hope’s Embrace. Her heart lies with serving women who are underserved and marginalized. She is conversationally fluent in ASL and has experience working with teenagers and women who have endured trauma. She also has a heart for bereavement work since she miscarried in 2014.
Renee is happily married with two living children and an angel baby.
Kimberly Hubbard
Kimberly is a stay at home mom living in Lexington. She has her own postpartum doula business and has also served in the National Guard for the last 11 years. She is on the board of Hope’s Embrace because she believes in the importance of providing birth support to all who want and/or need it. The mission of HE is important to Kimberly because she knows that young women deserve to be informed, supported and empowered in an experience as profound and wonderful as birth. Her own birth experience was improved greatly by the presence of a doula, and she supports Renee in her mission to provide the same valuable support to others in Kentucky.
Beth Partain
After graduating with a Master of Science in Social Work from The University of Louisville in 2014, I have been working with families, mamas, and children for the last 9+ years providing a holistic and trauma-informed therapy experience. I began my practice, Flourish Counseling, in 2020 with the intention to provide services to empower all women, and to make a space for specialized perinatal mental health treatment. I am the first state liscensed psychotherapist in Owensboro, and the Western KY area, to have the Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C). I sat for my exam in 2021, and I have multiple years of experience treating perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. I am passionate about advocating for better parental mental health awareness and treatment, helping mamas find their way in motherhood, and overall helping families have a healthy perinatal experience. I currently work part-time as I am also a mama to two beautiful kiddos, Ruby (6) and Jude (2), and am married to a wonderful man that supports me through it all.
Emma Ward
Emma has been a doula for about 2 years in Louisville. She has helped over 15 families bring babies earth side! She is passionate about helping families feel equipped for what lies ahead and is really excited about the mission of Hopes Embrace. Making birth support accessible to all is a motto she lives by and getting to actively play a role in changing lives is something she doesn’t take for granted.
